Two present-simple clauses
If it rains, the ground gets wet.
Comma
If-clause first → comma; result first → usually no comma.
When instead of if
When you heat water to 100°C at sea level, it boils.
Spelling
Present Simple -s/-es/-ies in both clauses: If she studies, she learns.
Negatives and questions
Use do/does + V1: If he doesn’t sleep, he feels tired.
No future will in standard zero conditional
If water freezes, it becomes ice. Not: If water will freeze…
Zero conditional states general patterns; first conditional (If + present, will + V1) describes possible future results. Avoid confusing them.

📏 Comparative & Superlative · المقارنة والتفضيل
Compare people, objects, places and situations. A comparative shows a difference, usually between two items; a superlative identifies the highest or lowest degree in a group.
نستخدم المقارنة لبيان الفرق بين شخصين أو شيئين غالبا، والتفضيل لتحديد الأعلى أو الأدنى ضمن مجموعة. وتستخدم المقارنة أيضا عند الحديث عن درجات أو تغيّرات.
🔍 Comparative vs. Superlative · ما الفرق بين المقارنة والتفضيل؟
Comparative compares two people, things, places, or situations, and shows which has more or less of a quality. We usually use -er ... than or more + adjective + than.
Comparative (المقارنة): نستخدمها غالبا للمقارنة بين شخصين أو شيئين، أو بين حالتين، لبيان من يمتلك الصفة بدرجة أكبر أو أقل.
Omar is 150 cm tall. Ali is 170 cm tall. → Ali is taller than Omar. (علي أطول من عمر)
Superlative identifies the person or thing with the highest or lowest degree of a quality within a group. We usually use the + -est or the most + adjective.
Superlative (التفضيل): نستخدمها لتحديد صاحب أعلى أو أدنى درجة من الصفة ضمن مجموعة.
Omar: 150 cm; Sami: 160 cm; Ali: 170 cm. → Ali is the tallest of the three boys. (علي الأطول بين الأولاد الثلاثة)
Comparative · المقارنة
Superlative · التفضيل
Compare two items or situations.
Identify an extreme in a group.
taller than / more beautiful than
the tallest / the most beautiful
Sara is older than Lina.
Sara is the oldest in her family.
Use than when naming the other item.
Usually use the before the superlative.
💡 With two choices, the better of the two is natural; with three or more, the best. Comparative and superlative forms are not verb tenses, so they do not require a separate Yes/No or WH-question formula.
